I enjoy very much knitting this shawl. Few years ago the pattern from this shawl was free. Now, you can buy it on Ravelry pattern store. Here is the link: Buttermere shawl from Victoria Magnus
This top-down triangular shawlette knits up quickly in fingering weight yarn but may be knitted in whatever weight you like!
I ‘ve named this shawl: Blue sky shawl, because of his color. I ‘ve make this shawl with 6 skeins cotton yarn ( Cotton 3 in aloe vera from phildar). I ‘ve make a shawl for the spring time! Cotton is better for now. I love this blue grey color!
To knit this shawl, you need a 3,5 or 4 circular needle ( number 6 needle in US terms ).
This easy shawl is idea for those who have never made a shawl before. The pattern is very simple. It starts at the center back of the neck and is knit down to the bottom edge.
There is two parts in the pattern: First part in stockinette stitch and second part; the lace edging. There is a chart to follow, for the lace edging. This model is easy to made but you must look attentively at the chart. One mistake, and all the lace pattern can be wrong!
You may find helpful tu use stitch markers to separate the border and center stitches from the chart stitches. Stitch markers may be placed: 1) after the first two border stitches; 2) before the center stitch; 3)after the center stitch; and 4) before the last two borders stitches.
Finished measurements :
118 cm( 42,5 inches) wingspan and 48 cm(19 inches) drop.
But if you wish to increase the size of your shawl, you may continue the stockinette section and add rows as many as you like. ( Think to add repeat of chart, then).
